The Eiffel
Tower is imposing in more than just statue, having been named Europe’s most
valuable monument, dwarfing its nearest rival the Colosseum.It stands in the centre of Paris as a beacon for
8million tourists each year and a symbol of national pride.
Findings made
from a recent study examined the image, branding and aesthetic qualities that
attract people to visit, along with the number of jobs it created. Building
cost and land value were not taken into account. Built at the cost of 18
million francs about 30 million today, and named after engineer Gustave Eiffel
who designed it. It was the tallest monument in the world until New York’s
Chrylster building in 1930. It is still the most visited attraction visited in Europe. Its second name in France is ‘Iron lady’.
The
revenue figures represent what a country as France would lose if it did not
have this Landmark!
Completed
on March 31, 1889, the tower was the world’s tallest man-made structure for 41
years until the completion of the Chrysler Building in New York in 1930.
And now the Eiffel Tower has been named the most
valuable monument in Europe – worth an estimated £344billion to France’s economy.Wow! Lucky France! for developing this landmark!
