  2. the qualified millennial should continue on their career path because the hospitality industry needs people who are qualified and capable to manage it.people who understand the guest needs and can provide the solution.
i did my four months industrial attachment at hotel bon voyage located at 57a.A.J marinho drive, victoria island. hotel bon voyage has nine departments but i had the opportunity to work in five departments which are store, kitchen, housekeeping, front desk, and restaurant.i had a wonderful experience in every department that i worked.
i recommend that managers should emphasize more on the welfare of the staffs, especially the food being giving to the staffs on daily basis. they should also try to pay attention to food safety hygiene in the kitchen.
there should be a weekly training for the staffs plan also. managers should also take time to access equipment so that good and better equipment can be provided.
the managers of hotels in general should always find ways of dispensing waste such that it does not affect the environment around in any form.

  3. The growth of the industry is dependent on the image it gives to the youth who are on their industrial training. These youths who are the future leading figures of the industry, should therefore be encouraged during their industrial attachment, to continue in this career path. The institutions can do this by maintaining high operating standards and also good staff welfare, in order to attract youths to the industry.
I had the opportunity to have my work experience in a four star brand hotel. I was able to have a first-hand experience on how the hospitality industry is today. I did my four months industrial attachment in Four Points by Sheraton Lagos, which is a hotel brand under Starwood hotels and resorts.
I worked in only one department, which is the food and beverage department. I was able, however from this department, to observe the mode of operation of the other departments in the hotel. In the food and beverage department, I worked in two of the outlets and one of the stations. The outlets where I worked are Brazzerie and Café cappuccino, and the station is banqueting.

My work experience, I would say was of premium quality, apart from a few challenges which I faced. One of these challenges is the shortage of cutlery in the restaurant, as a result of large banquet events, especially when there is a high turnover of guests in the restaurant. Another challenge which I faced is the busy days which we sometimes had at Café cappuccino. It was a bit difficult for me to keep track of such a large number of guest orders and I would sometimes serve some orders late, leading to guest dissatisfaction and even complaints.
There are a few things I would like to commend the hotel for, one of which is the fact that it is highly organized. A lot of policies have been put in place to ensure the smooth running of the hotel. Also, there are clearly stated SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for every aspect of the operations in order to prevent confusion and ensure uniformity in the accomplishment of tasks. I would however recommend that there should be effective enforcement and execution of these policies and standard operating procedures in order to ensure that they are adhered to by the staff.
Another aspect in which the hotel is doing well is in the aspect of staff welfare. There are facilities put in place in order to take care of the staff members like the staff bus, canteen (called café comfort), locker rooms, restrooms, layover and the clinic. Most of these facilities run for twenty four hours. I also commend the fact that members of staff are referred to as associates which makes them feel accepted.
My recommendation to the establishment is that the specification for employment of new associates should be modified to suit young people or millennials, as the working conditions are already attractive for them. I would also that members of the management team, or management staff should maintain a cordial relationship with other associates in order to foster a family atmosphere. To hotels in general, I would recommend that staff welfare should be taken care of in order to ensure that the staff members are happy with their jobs and this will encourage them to put in their best. It will also attract more young people to the industry.

  5. Millennial should continue in this chosen career, a person only does well in what you are good at giving up on what you know how to do only make things harder.
I think they should continue looking for a job, this is because the industry is large and if you are in the hospitality industry you should always have a way to make means with what you know. This industry gives you the opportunity to study, practicalize everything about hospitality. There are different job opportunities in the hospitality industry all you have to do is to find out what part you are very good at hospitality industry is a great deal for young people. It has help us in so many ways, so I say they shouldn’t give up, if it is not working in a place all you have to do is work for somewhere else to work.
Looking through the practical and theoretical parts of the hospitality industry I have found out that the experience is a priceless gift anybody that wants to excel in the industry should acquire. Hospitality industry is wider than anyone can imagine and it has grown to become more valuable and well recognized in all the parts of the world in recent times. i did my industrial training at hotel Bon Voyage.
There are different department in the hotel namely; Administration, front desk, porters, housekeeping, F & B, kitchen, store, bar, laundry, IT and security and maintainers. I got the opportunity to work in four departments namely, F & B, front desk, housekeeping and store.
In hotel Bon Voyage the staffs work together as a family. They work to bring the best in the hotel. They teach their staff how to be independent and how to follow the rules of the establishment. They make the guest happy and also do their best to make them fill at home. They give the staff the respect they need which makes them happy
Hotel Bon Voyage is a very good place for any student to acquire great knowledge about the industry. The management should treat their step in the right manner for them to work in the right manner so that the establishment could move forward.

  6. Yes I agreed that the Millennials should coutinue with their career path because they are the young peole whose study Hospitality Management as cours. The will helped to train other staff who did not study hospitality as a course.
my four months industrial attachmaent was done at Ibis airport hotel lagos. Ibis Airport hotel is located at 35\37 Muntala Mohammed International airpot road, Ajowo Estate Isolo.
i had the opportunity to work in two departments only which are kitchen and food & beverage. my experience is that i was taught how to prepare different types of salads and their dressing. i was also learn how to make guest order, how to handle guest complains, finally i learnt how to use micros sytem to prepare guest bill.Ibis hotel is doing well because they always listen to their guest compalians and ensure that their complains are resolved. they are very good in working with time in order to meet up with their services.
Theyare also good in ensuring thst the guest order is ready before ten to fifteen minutes the oder meant to take before getting ready. Ibis hotel are also good in ensuring that their guest are hundred percent satisfied.
The hotel should ensure that they take proper care of their equipment.
I recommend from this my experience that hotels should equally ensure that their staff work with right equipment while working . they should also ensure that their staff welfare is well taken care off. Staffs in hotels should also cooperate well among themselves to ensure effective workflow.

  7. A high proportion of qualified young people or millennial exist in the industry or are looking for work.they represent an opportunity for the industry and work experience is an influence on how they see the industry and operators and this will determine if they will want to continue on this career path.
what i understand about this text is that many young people who have undergone industrial training and have work experience can make our industry better because they are the future but it all depends on the kind of experience which they receive when they go on industrial training.
if they come back to the industry or choose another career in another line of study, this can be influenced by the work experience.
hospitality industries should try and make these young millennial have a good experience when they are doing their industrial training because they are the future of our industries, a good image should be created so that they can continue on this path and be able to build a better industry.
this industry should maintain a good standard of work and look into the welfare of the staff to be able to encourage these young people to love this industry and be able to continue on this path.

  12. Yes because I feel it's when students have experienced how they relate with them particularly the organisation they work with. This will influence their decision if the establishment behaves well with them, then both the management and the staff will be a great influence on what they would like either to continue in their career path or not. I had my four months industrial attachment at fourpoints by sheraton, Lagos which is located at plot 9/10 Block 2 Oniru chieftaincy estate behind lekki pennisula, Victorial Island,Lagos. My experience generally at fourpoints was indeed a great one because it exposed me to the world of hospitality and how it operates. During my training, I learnt different types of dishes prepared in all the secions I worked. It also broaden my insight on varieties of dishes, salads and pastries that could be produced irrespective of who they are prepared for and it was a huge success because I was able to blend the theoretical knowledge I gained in the classroom with real-life experiences which has prepared me fr the future positively. What I like about them is the training they give their associates to improve their knowledge such as fire drill, personal hygiene practice, their enthusiasm towards their job and their approach towards their guest and handling of their complaints. I will recommend that head chefs of various hotels should ensure that enough working equipment are provided for easy work flow, the chefs should wear their appropriate apparel during working hours and the right manner of approach amongst all members of staff. 13. I did my siwes at four points by sheraton lagos, which is located at plot 9/10 block 2 oniru chieftancy estate behind lekki penninsula victoria island lagos.
Four point by sheraton is a four star hotel, it has 234 rooms including 31 suites.
It has various departments which are; food & beverage departments, housekeeping departments, front office departments and engineering departments.
While I was working I learnt how to use the pos machine and the micros to print guests bills .
This training has helped me to be able to speak in public especially in the midst of the people am meeting for the first time and it has also helped me to be able to choose the path I would love to work in the industry in future.
In four point they take care of their associate
In the sense that they nake arrangement for clinic and a nurse who can attend to the associate medically.
They also make arrangements for training like Hepatitis B training, food hanlers training, fire training etc
I will recommend that hotels managements should put in place enough toilets and bathrooms for staffs and provide humane working conditions at work.

  14. I did my SIWES at Araba Homemade, It is a cake house located at 16,Thourbum Avenue, Yaba Lagos. My experience at Araba Homemade was a great one because I learnt how to make different types of cakes, pastries and how to decorate cakes though at first it was hard ,I wasn't finding it easy to grab things but with time,I blended because the staff were good and friendly and it was easy fr me to learn and cope with the work. I was taught the essence of work and that I have to be creative in order to be become better in upgrading my skills. They are very good with puff pastry, cakes, decorating....I always believe that cake shp's can't be clean because f the nature of their job but I was convinced at Araba's hygiene rules and regulations are adhere t. I will recommend that cake shops should do frequent training for their staff, allow them taste products they make and follow the right control method. 16. I had the opportunity to do my student work experience scheme in sugar creations, an establishment located at No 75 Adisa Bashua street,Surulere, Lagos.
Here i received training on how to make different snacks like cookies, chin chin, meat pie, and varieties of cakes and beverages like zobo which is a natural drink.
I had a very good experience in Sugar creations, I was taught a lot which i find very useful and it has added more insight and value to my life.
I had a very good experience with the management and staff of the establishment because they were very open and ready to teach me everything, if there was something i did not understand, they would emphasize on it and made sure that i understood everything.
The quality of work experience i recieved was very good because i really learnt a lot of things which has made me to become more creative and i can now do cakes on my own without the supervision of anybody.
I would like to recommend Sugar creations because their work is so organized and they put in their best to do customers' orders in order to satisfy the customers and make them happy, they work very creatively and innovate new things and work with them, their style of work is nice, during exhibitions, trade fares, people always comment on the neatness and beauty of the cakes which are made in sugar creations. They try to make cakes look real, example character cakes always look their best when it is decorated with either butter cream or fondant.
I will not hesitate to recommend sugar creations to anybody who will like to do an industrial training in sugar creations.
one thing i would like to recommend to sugar creations is that they should try and build a bigger bakery so that people especially these young millennial can know that they exist, been attached to Wavcrest students' hall doesn't really give them the opportunity to be known by people.
If they have their own big bakery and display some of the items and products made, people will be happy and it will create some interest in them.
Above all, sugar creations is a very nice establishment and teaches a lot without holding back any information, I enjoyed my SIWES training because it gave me insight on cake decorating and made me to be more creative and innovative in whatever i want to do.

  17. I did my four months industrial attachment at the George hotel. The George hotel is a family owned hotel owned by Mr& Mrs George located at 30 Lugard avenue Ikoyi,Lagos and managed by Mantis collection from South Africa.
Having my industrial attachment in the George hotel,i was giving opportunity to practice what i have been taught in wavecrest college and it also give me a link of what hospitality industry is expected of me in future.
my recommendation to hotels is that each establishment should make sure that the room rate are not too high so that more guest can patronize them. Also the the hotels should make sure that their staffs are well trained to attend to guest needs on time, for example the F&B department should make sure the guest food comes out on time without any delay from the kitchen because it is their duty to make sure the chefs prepare the food on time. They should make sure that they get the right information when taking the order so that it will not cause confusion between the chefs and the waiters.
In the establishment, the management should make sure that the housekeeping department ensures once a guest had checkout of the room, the room must be well cleaned and checked well to make sure that departed guest belongings is not still in the room for the incoming guest to see
